She was beautiful. That was my first thought. Most people would have been frightened. Some may even have fainted, but not me. I was entranced. Her hair flowed around her in the water, black as the darkest depths of the sea. Her eyes were totally black, but tinged with mild curiosity. Slowly, as if testing my reaction, she reached a webbed hand from the water and rested it on mine. I couldn't take my eyes off her. The skin of her torso was blue with a grey tinge. I'm afraid to fly too high and afraid to fly too low. I fear the sun's heat in the sky and sea demons down below. If I fly up to the sun I'd fear its scorching heat-- I'd fear the burns and blistered skin of face and legs and feet. However, if I fly too low, the monsters of the deep will reach upward and pull me down into dark eternal sleep. "You're ugly." The words taste like bitter, hot coffee on my tongue. They singe my lips and make my eyes fill with tears, but they spray from my mouth at the mirror just as they do every day. Why, oh why do people prize a flower like the rose? It's rather fragile and delicate (as far as flowers go). A rose is just a spoiled thing that demands all your attention, whereas ones like the dandelion need no intervention. They're bright and pretty stubborn things that resemble bursts of light. But try as you may to kill them off, they don't die without a fight. A dandelion is both sturdy and strong (as far as flowers go), so why, oh why do people prize a flower like the rose?

Getting back into the swing of things

Hello teacups, I know I yet again have not been on in a while, but I have art-related problems that I need to address and other fun shit. I'm a senior this year and I've applied to West Chester University for a graphic design major. I'm pretty sure I've been accepted to the school, but I need to be accepted to their art department, and for that I need a portfolio. Well, guess what? My parents threw out almost all my work. So now I must start over from scratch. So I'd like to ask people to PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE just drop some ideas in the comments because I need about 10-12 pieces and I think I might have 2. This is anxiety inducing
